Adenike Fajemirokun, PhD, SIRM, Group Chief Risk Officer, Dangote Industries
Dr Adenike Fajemirokun is the Chief Risk Officer of Dangote Group and leads the Risk Management Functions for the Group and its various Businesses. She is responsible for overseeing the company’s governance model and oversees the company’s enterprise risk program, responsible for developing and managing processes to identify, assess, monitor and reduce risks that could interfere with the achievement of the company’s goals and objectives. She is also responsible for managing the Groups Insurance Portfolio.
Dr Fajemirokun joined Dangote in January of 2014, with over 16 years in the financial services industry specialising in risk management. Most recently, she was the founder and CEO of AFRisk Management Consultants Limited, overseeing international and local Risk Management activities for the firm. She also served as the Head of Operational Risk for First Bank Nigeria Plc. She is responsible for delivering the ERM frameworks for some of the countries major institutions including Central Bank of Nigeria (2013), First Bank Nigeria (2009) and First Bank Capital Plc (2012).
Prior to AFRisk Management, Dr Adenike spent 8 years in senior leadership roles across Deutsche Bank, AG, UK as Director and Global Head Operational Risk and Deputy Head of loan exposure management for leverage finance at the corporate and investment bank. Prior to specialising in the Risk Management field, she held positions in finance as a front office quantitative analyst at Goldman Sachs London and New York.
Dr Fajemirokun serves on the Board of the following Nigerian companies: AIICO Insurance Plc, AIICO Pension Managers Limited, AIICO Capital Plc, Xerox XHS Nigeria Ltd and Food Concept Plc.
Dr Fajemirokun holds a BEng in Civil, Structural and Fire Engineering and a PhD in Risk Informed Engineering both from the University of Manchester, UK.
She is a Fellow of the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) and Specialist member (SIRM) of the Global Institute of Risk Management. She is also a visiting professor at the University of Manchester, UK.
